QPWB LAWYER SELECTED TO SPEAK BEFORE THE LITIGATION COUNSEL OF AMERICA
JACKSONVILLE, FL – Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. (QPWB) is pleased to announce that Teresa A. Arnold-Simmons, a partner in the firm’s Jacksonville office, has been selected to serve on the Faculty at the Fall Conference and Induction of Fellows for the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA) on November 1-2, 2007, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Focusing her practice on long-term care, medical malpractice, and general liability, Mrs. Arnold-Simmons has extensive trial experience and regularly handles litigation claims on behalf of physicians, nurses, nursing homes, and prison health care workers. Her presentation will cover the collateral source rule, its origins, rationales for and against the rule and its status nationally. She will further discuss the rule’s applicability to expenses which are paid by Medicare or Medicaid and then written off by these entities.
Mrs. Arnold-Simmons is admitted to the Florida Bar and South Carolina Bar. She received her J.D. in 1992 from the University of South Carolina School of Law. During law school, she was a member of the student editorial board of the ABA Real Property, Probate & Trust Journal and served as its managing editor. She was also a member of the Order of the Wig and Robe. Following law school, Mrs. Arnold-Simmons clerked for the South Carolina Court of Appeals as law clerk to Acting Judge and Retired Supreme Court Justice Bruce Littlejohn.
Mrs. Arnold-Simmons’ presentation will be made to Fellows of the LCA, a trial lawyer honorary society whose membership includes less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. Fellowship in the LCA is highly selective and by invitation only. Fellows are carefully selected based upon evaluations of effectiveness and accomplishment in litigation, and superior ethical reputation. The LCA seeks a high level of diversity in its composition, and maintains Women’s and Diversity Initiatives. Established as a trial and appellate lawyer honorary society reflecting the American bar in the twenty-first century, the LCA includes the best in law among its membership. Mrs. Arnold-Simmons is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America.
